| And now, to make up for all the times I've been lazy, I give you my last double feature: Cobalion. It feels so weird to finally be done with all of these. Now I may finally be able to direct my attention to other projects I've been neglecting. It's too late to start writing the piece tonight, but I guess I can pass along the first paragraph: --- Some people just think they're the greatest...Yes; this, of all things, was what the man pondered to himself as he sat at his desk. He didn't know any of those people personally, but he had heard all too much of them. The Trainers often thought that they were the best--capturing Pokemon from the wild, and making them stronger then they could ever be alone. With their powerful Pokemon, they would often bring down evil organizations. The Rangers thought that they were the best, as well--learning to respect the ways of Pokemon, and giving them as much freedom as possible. With a device called the Capture Styler and some select Pokemon that stayed friends with them, they, too, often brought down evil organizations. This man, however, did not have to think about who was the best of all of them--no, he knew the answer for sure. For neither the Trainers nor Rangers could be present if it weren't for the Professors and other Educators. And those Educators wouldn't exist if it weren't for him. --- I wonder what sort of discussion this will raise...if any. _________________ ~ CF, Master of Shadows ~ |

| Wow, CF.
Seems like you've been here working on Unova for forever. Sincere congratulations.
Hope you stay to help on the other pokemon.
As for the piece of literature, keep it up, it seems like a nice story. I want to read this.
Btw, don't mind what KD said. I'll take care of that stuff. |

| Oh, don't think I'm going to just fall off the Earth now. As a matter of fact, Lucas, you can expect to see a little more of me. Now that I'm finally done with this daily grind, I can move on to some projects I've been neglecting--including your Hero Quest. I appreciate you swooping in to take the rest of my work, too; really, I do. I think you're being far too kind, but thank you so much. As for the literature piece...I had really only planned on doing a prologue-type-thing, based on what I've been doing this entire time. I will continue that now, however. | Spoiler: | | | Some people just think they're the greatest... Yes; this, of all things, was what the man pondered to himself as he sat at his desk.
This man's name was 000--well, of course that wasn't his real name, but he had forgotten his real name by now. It was his sole duty to document every single Pokemon he came across, declare a region safe to inhabit, and get Educators situated to teach anyone who would like to live in that region as a Trainer or a Ranger. --- But what was all this talk about Trainers and Rangers and Pokemon, anyway? If 000 were to relate the tale to someone, he would say that it all started about twenty years ago. With the general advancement of exploring deep space, it was only a matter of time before an Earth-like planet was located. Nobody had guessed just what they'd find on it. With the first drones that landed on such a planet, scientists were confused to see strange creatures that seemed to have merged their very essence with the elements--and shocked to see that there were humans. The people were not of an uncivil type, but they were scared to death of the creatures. With no way to control them, the stronger of the so-called "pocket monsters" would attack them often, typically taking a chunk of their civilization out with them. When they had located the search drones, they pleaded to them for help--any kind of help.
To the government, it seemed win-win-win--surely, with their ability, they could capture these monsters, save people, and earn a new planet to inhabit. With molecular transportation safe and on the market, distance was no longer an issue--to now help those people would simply be immoral. At this time, 000 was appointed by the government to scour the world of the Pocket Monsters, and document them to give others some foresight. --- And that was precisely what he did. Equipped with the finest in personal weaponry, defenses, and transportation, 000 was always the first to visit a new region--and gone before anyone else could go there. 000 sorted through his drawings, getting them into order to be submitted to the master Pokedex. He had just finished his sketches of all the Pokemon for this new region, and although he only had so many different brown pens and he had sometimes spilled ink on the side of his drawings, he was proud of his work. Filing through the papers, he counted them carefully--yes, there was no doubt about it. 156 new species total; that was a record-breaking five more than Kanto, the first place 000 had ever documented. He did some quick math on his computer, and he soon learned that this brought the total to 649. He smirked, and spoke to no one: "Well, well...they might have to start calling me 0,000 in a while." After he organized them in the order he wanted, he carefully placed them in his scanner, and waited patiently for it to examine his sketches. --- 000 was doing his job fine--as he had been for twenty years--but where did everyone else come from? The Trainers and the Rangers emerged when a huge issue was tackled--just how would everyone go about capturing the Pocket Monsters? True animal activists wanted to understand why the monsters were attacking, and try to befriend them rather than capture them outright. This group became known as the Rangers, and their device of mastery was built--the Master Styler; a machine that literally emitted waves of friendship. Meanwhile, the more aggressive, sports-like people believed that they would have to stop the Monsters by showing their own strength. These people became the Trainers, and their weapon was the Master Ball; a powerful imprisonment device that would stop a Pocket Monster without fail.
As these people went about their separate ways, more things were discovered about the planet--no one seemed to age if they didn't want to there, making it an ideal place to live. Time passed; more Rangers and Trainers marched through the transporters; the Pocket Monster became much less of a threat; the people's fear was erased. As Pocket Monsters drifted from being a life-threatening task to a commercial activity like a sport, the name was shortened to "Pokemon," and with the approval of those living there, the planet became known as "PokEarth." --- A green LED flashing on and a small "ping" notified 000 that the scanner had finished. Briefly cracking his knuckles, he moved over to his computer, and swiftly began typing an e-mail in the form he was so used to. --- To: Ms. Juniper Subject: New Region
You know who this is and why they're mailing you--it's time for you to show us what you've been studying for, Juniper. Far too often has a boy been appointed, but I've been watching you, and I think you and your friend Fennel will do a great job with this new region, Isshu (Here, 000 pauses, staring at the name, then erases it and writes a new one) Unova. At least, that's my proposed name, but you're welcome to call it whatever you like. As always, my Pokemon sketches have been attached to this e-mail. Assemble the scientists you'd like to take with you; you're due here in a week.
From: 000 --- It was no sooner than 000 clicked "Send" that his communicator alerted him of an incoming message. Switching it on hastily, he spoke into the device: "This is 000, go ahead." "Hey, O! There's a new region that needs you--after all, who else would we call? I'm downloading the coordinates to your computer now; get going!" Click. Brief and to the point--just how 000 liked it. He quickly packed up the tools for his job, pausing briefly to stare at the Master Styler and Master Ball he carried with him. For a brief moment, he pondered to himself if he would ever stop being the Documenter and pick up the reins to become both a Trainer and a Ranger. He shrugged, and thought, probably not. PokEarth would always have a new location that he would need to explore himself. This fact didn't bother him, though--he liked being the only person alive with a complete Pokedex, and he was unsure how much he'd like doing either anyway. After consulting the coordinates and calling his personal jet to him, it only took thirty more seconds for 000 to rocket off into the distance. --- Five days later--as she was always a little early--Juniper stood at the prow of a massive ship, simply feeling the wind in her hair. It was a big day for her; after years of studying, she would finally be a Professor. Aboard the ship with her was her close friend, Fennel. In addition, hidden deep within the ship was a young Alder and some of his friends, both close and distant--getting ready to set up the Elite Four Challenge and the Gyms.
Of course, they didn't need to be seen by a figure wearing a gray-and-white uniform viewing the ship through binoculars to know why the ship was here. Upon spotting Juniper, the figure produced a communicator from the folds of their uniform--not dissimilar to 000's, except with a cyan "P" etched into it. The figure swiftly powered it on, and soon, a nervous-sounding voice came through. "Well, what is it...?" "Master, I'm afraid your suspicions were all but correct. Master, a large ship approaches holding an Educator and what I can only guess are several of her friends. That 000 guy may not have been after the Pokemon, but I think you can guess what this means." The figure choked on their words for a second, and when they spoke again, they sounded as if they were crying: "Master N...they're here. They've come to take our Pokemon." |
Well, that sure was...interesting. Thoughts?_________________ ~ CF, Master of Shadows ~ |

Anyway, CF. It's no problem. I'll take care of the rest of the stuff, just do your thing. You've earned it.
Btw, loving that story. You'd better not kill it. |
