| Will the game be following older mechanics, or will there be a physical/special split on moves as there is in the newer generations? I'm presuming the latter is the case, but it never hurts to make sure. | |

| Pretty sure it will follow the mechanics of FR/LG, as Silver wants to stick true to the style of it. | |

Pretty sure? You should be absolutely sure.

| Yeah, but I'm pretty much running this place. Kidd stops by every once and a while, but he's too busy doing Dev Tests. | |

| I'd imagine we separate up into ATK, DEF, SPATK, and SPDEF. After all, we've got the Gen V Pokemon to deal with, and we don't know what they'd be like if they were just Special. | |

| I think it's an important point. For a lot of 4th and 5th Gen Pokemon, this could be the game breaker. Fire types in particular have become more and more physically based since the change, meaning Pokemon like Infernape and Darmanitan will be losing a lot of power. There's also newer moves like Psystrike that target the opposite defensive stat.
Actually, in that thread with the Rom Hacks, Flora Sky does a fairly good job of portraying Black and White Pokemon in a FR/LG system- With Air Slash being Physical and Fire Punch being special, Darumaka and Woobat become much less usable. I suggest trying it to understand what I'm getting at.

I actually disagree. Infernape and Darmanitan are both Fire types and their standard attack stat, which determines the power of physical attacks, is higher than their special attack. They are well adapted for Generation V Fire type moves.

| ... Am I the only one that realised that Infernape is Gen 4, and I don't recall it learning Fire Punch?
Good.
It'll be coded like in Gen 5, but in FR/LG style.

That was the point. If we used the 3rd Gen system, all fire attacks would be based on the user's special attack, meaning those two would see a drastic drop in power. Thanks for clearing that up Kiddragon. And Infernape can learn the move via breeding, but I was giving an example using one of Darmanitan's moves. For Infernape, Flame Wheel or Flare Blitz would be a better example.
